Salsa (Spanish for "sauce" or "s[ice") is a popular form of high-energy Latin-American dance music, characterized by Afro-Caribbean rhythms, Cuban big-band dance melodies and elements of jazz and rock. Salsa emerged on the New York club scene in the early 70s.
